I don’t know about you, but this Covid-19-global pandemic-zombie apocalypse related lock-down has me a little stir-crazy. Although, the house and backyard have never been cleaner, so there’s that. Gotta be positive right?
One thing that’s been very helpful now that I have some free time on my hands is the new music coming out… or re-branding of older music masked as new!? Whatever the case may be, this time, it’s a very-very welcome moment in time. I don’t know about you, but I can never get enough of David Bowie.
I remember being in high school and listening to songs before they became classics. Songs like “Rebel Rebel”, “Changes,” “Space Oddity,” “Suffragette City,” ” Sound & Vision,” “The Jean Genie,” “Blue Jean,” “China Girl,” “Heroes,” and “Modern Love” just to name a few of the songs that we all grew up with.
I also remember the movies back in the day, especially those John Hughes movies with the great sound tracks. I loved the opening of 16 Candles with Molly Ringwald to Bowie’s Young Americans. I was 22 years-old, and couldn’t get enough of Bowie and his music. Don’t get me started on Ziggy Stardust and those Spiders from Mars!
No matter what it was, music, films or life… everything Bowie touched just seemed to be so much larger than life.
Bowie was so bad-ass, Barbie even became an honorary Spider from Mars with a Ziggy inspired makeover.
Needless to say, it was such a monumental loss when he passed away in 2016.
DAVID BOWIE
