THE RETURN OF GBH

North American Summer Tour

March 1, 2023 by John Gilhooley
Formed in Birmingham, England in 1978 by vocalist Colin Abraham and guitarist Jock Blyth, GBH has been bringing their brand of punk rock to the world for over 40 years. Hailed as one of the pioneers of the punk thrash metal genre, GBH has influenced countless bands, including Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and they are coming to Garden Amp.
The current tour has been dubbed City Baby’s Revenge and kicks off in New York May 6th. It will make its way across the States and after a stop in Las Vegas at the annual Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival, it hits Los Angeles, San Diego, and lucky for us in Orange County, a Friday night on June 2nd at the Garden Amphitheatre in Garden Grove.

Direct support for the Garden Amp show is Svetlanas, a Russian thrashcore and punk rock band fronted by high-energy female vocalist, Olga Svetlanas. Additional support will come in the form of Los Angeles-based band NIIS, another female-fronted group who is currently killing it courtesy of front-woman Mimi SanDoe. The Modifiers and Endless Struggle will also lend a hand for the night of punk festivities.

Since their inception, GBH has released 12 albums with the last one being 2017’s “Momentum.” GBH – which comes from a UK criminal law term for Grievous Bodily Harm – features an iconic logo that can be found on most every punk rock jacket in patches and paint, as well as tattoos on both men and women.

In addition to the Garden Amp show, GBH will play Los Angeles at Fonda Theatre on May 31st and San Diego House of Blues on June 1st. It would be wise to get OC tickets early as this event will surely sell out and go off. Of course, we’ll be there to cover it all.
