THE SISTERS OF MERCY

THE SISTERS OF MERCY

A SONIC FORCE

February 6, 2023 by Nancy Evans
The ‘80s gave us many-many things: MTV, new wave music, David Bowie, Eurythmics, U2, Boingo, Michael Jackson, WHAM!, Ronald Reagan. It also gave birth to the ultimate icons of goth, after all, what would the music world be without The Sisters of Mercy!
This genre has seen its ebbs and flows of musical peaks and valleys. The Sisters are from Leeds and formed in 1980. They are best known for hits “This Corrosion,” “Lucretia My Reflection” and their super massive hit, “More.” In 2023 they are coming up for air and sunshine with a few epic shows headed our way.

Today’s band includes lead singer, guitarist, keys and drum programmer Andrew Eldritch, Ben Christo has backing vocals, guitar and bass duties, and Dylan Smith rounds out the threesome with guitar and backing vocals.

The Sisters last toured in 2008, but you can see them a few times this year. They will make their return to the stage at Sick New World. The festival itself may be the one we talk about all year. It features Deftones, Incubus, Ministry, Turnstile, Killing Joke, Placebo, She Wants Revenge, Skinny Puppy, Stabbing Westward, Orgy, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and a ton of other great bands. For this one, headliners include System of a Down and Korn.

The question I am sure you are asking yourself is when can you see them in SoCal, right? Well, the wait it almost over. They are playing two shows at the Hollywood Palladium – May 15th and May 23rd.

If you are looking for an incredible night of alternative music with a definite hard core goth influence, check out the Sisters of Mercy. They are a sonic force worth the price of admission no matter where you see them!
