Huge news in the OC music scene today: New Life by way of a new song and a video to match are being released today from one of your favorite OC bands, Zebrahead!
You may remember our last story with Zebrahead announcing a new addition to the band, Adrian Estrella (from Assuming We Survive). This new song will be Estrella’s first induction into the Zebrahead hall of fame, and his musical introduction to Zebrahead fans.
The new song, “Lay Me to Rest,” hits close to home as the guys use their actual personal items as props in the video, including Ben Osmundson’s record collection, Estrella riding his motorcycle, Dan Palmer’s Photoshopped Tiger King portrait of him lying beside a white tiger, and more. You also see the members in mourning, discussing whether to fill the void left in their band or walk away.
After a band meeting, and with a quick text (rumors have it that there was more to it than just that text from Palmer IRL), the restoration of the band comes back in full swing, and they rock out to the rest of the song.
Bassist Ben Osmundson explains, “The band came up with the idea for the video when ‘Lay Me to Rest’ was picked as the introduction song for Adrian. Since it incorporates death and moving onward, we thought it was the perfect fit for what was actually happening in real life to the band. We had to decide if we were going to let one of the most important things in our life die, or if we wanted to use this hard time to re-energize us and reaffirm how lucky we are to be doing this for a living.”
Vocalist/rapper Ali Tabatabaee says, “I can’t wait for everyone to hear ‘Lay Me to Rest.’ The song is about appreciating the time you have and making the most of each and every day. Adrian’s powerful voice really complements the Zebrahead sound, and I’m excited for our fans to hear the new songs! Chapter three…let’s go!”
But to hear it straight from the newly added man himself, guitarist/vocalist Estrella says, “I am so beyond stoked to have you all hear our new single ‘Lay Me to Rest.’ I could not be prouder of the song, work, time and effort we’ve all put into this.”
Estrella is the perfect addition for Zebrahead, and this song and video showcase that. The guys at Zebrahead really know what they are doing, and where to take their band because this song is absolutely going to be number one on the charts!
If that wasn’t enough to get you in the mood, check this out; Zebrahead will be releasing a new album on November 26th. No details are given yet, but be sure to stick around because OC Music News will be getting the skinny on everything Zebrahead soon enough. And let’s face it, with this quintet of amazing musicians, the new album is going to blow our socks off!
The rebellious spirit is alive and well for the Orange County-based, punk-inspired rock outfit.
Zebrahead remains electrifying. The band features vocalist / rapper Ali Tabatabaee, vocalist/guitarist Adrian Estrella, bassist Ben Osmundson, drummer Ed Udhus, and guitarist Dan Palmer. Check out the new tunes and see them live when you can, it’s a guaranteed good time!
