One of the highlights of my summer has always been the Orange County Fair and its Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheatre. This year is even more special following the closure of Irvine’s FivePoint Amphitheatre, making Pacific Amp the only large, outdoor venue in the OC.

Local superheroes/rock band The Aquabats are headlining a special show on August 17th, featuring a fantastic lineup with Sweet & Tender Hooligans and The Aggrolites.

This show marks The Aquabats’ triumphant return home, and the finale of their 2024 summer tour, which kicked off at the No Values festival in June. At No Values, they premiered two new songs from their latest album, appropriately titled “Finally!”

The album was released on June 21st and fans have been praising its return to the classic Aquabats sound. New tracks like “No Rewind” and “Doctor Space Mummy” are already becoming favorites.

Known for their outrageous costumes, superhero personas, and infectious ska-punk tunes, The Aquabats have been delighting audiences for decades. “Finally!” signifies their triumphant return after an almost four-year interval since their last album, “Kooky Spooky… In Stereo!” making this hometown show even more extraordinary. Expect a mix of new tracks and beloved classics, accompanied by their trademark humor and over-the-top theatrical flair that makes every performance a spectacle. This is a show for the whole family; you won’t want to miss the most fun band around.

Joining them in the lineup is Sweet & Tender Hooligans, renowned as the ultimate tribute to Morrissey and The Smiths. Led by Jose Maldonado, they deliver spot-on renditions of iconic songs, including fan favorites like “How Soon Is Now,” and “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now.”

Opening the evening with their blend of reggae, soul, and funk is The Aggrolites, known for their infectious rhythms and energetic live performances. Their cover of The Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down” is always a standout moment.
