More Oz.’s of

Coming to US Open of Surfing
July 2, 2024 by Nancy Evans
It’s July 2nd, 2024, and we know many things of what makes Orange County the place to be.
Recently, we got the news, the re-formed SUBLIME featuring Bradley Nowell’s son, Jakob will be heading the Lexus US Open of Surfing.

The event is a 9-day celebration of surf and summer in the OC taking place August 3rd through the 11th!
The event will be host to the who’s who of surfing scoring points for the World Surf League (WSL).
Fact: It’s been a minute since a musical act has been featured at the event, but this August, it’s what we got!

Sublime will perform a headlining set on Saturday, August 3, to kick off the Lexus US Open of Surfing, featuring original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, with Jakob Nowell, son of the late Bradley Nowell, as front man.

Special guest Makua Rothman is also set to perform. The intimate, one-night show will be hosted on the sand at the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier.

If you need a little reminder of what this band means to so many, songs like “Santeria,” “Doin’ Trime,” “Garden Grove,” Badfish,” “Wrong Way,” “Smoke Two Joints,” “Don’t Push,” “Caress Me Down,” “Burritos,” “Jailhouse,” “Pawn Shop,” “Date Rape,” and “April 29, 1992,” is just a sample of the music that made a genre, and defined a generation.
If that musical legacy isn’t enough, the newly configured Sublime got together with Stick Figure to put out a new track, “Feel Like That.”
The new single features vocals by Jakob Nowell, and his father Bradley.
How big a deal is this? Well, the new Sublime is making all the right stops to re-launch themselves.
They’ve been featured in OC’s TNN Radio, then on tot The World Famous KROQ, and they have even made an appearance on late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

As for having the swagger to perform, the band killed it at No Values Fest, and they are slotted to headline Bayfest in San Diego before they make waves in HB.
