Shamrock Rebellion Returns to SoCal
December 19, 2024 by Kevin Gomez
We may be just under a week away from Christmas, but Flogging Molly is already thinking about St. Patrick’s Day.
The Irish punk band has become synonymous with the holiday in Los Angeles and earlier this week announced the second annual Shamrock Rebellion. While last year’s inaugural festival included just two dates, they will be expanding to three dates in 2025.
Saturday, March 15th will be in Las Vegas; Sunday will be in new city, Tempe, Arizona; and Monday, March 17th, the official St Patrick’s Day event will be at the Palladium in Los Angeles.

Flogging Molly will be headlining, of course. Many may be surprised to learn that despite their common themes and origins, the band was formed in Los Angeles at famed Irish bar, Molly Malone’s (where the band’s name comes from).

The band had several successful St Patty’s Day shows at the Palladium before last year, deciding to take things on the road. Last year’s festival saw performances from Face to Face, Frank Turner, and the Buzzcocks. This year, they have another jam-packed lineup on board.
Me First & the Gimme Gimmes will be bringing their swinging brand of punk rock covers to Shamrock Rebellion next year. Spearheaded by their fearless leader, lead singer Spike Slawson, the punk rock super group are a party for any occasion.
The Gimmes released their first album of “new” (they’re all covers!) material earlier this year, the first in seven years. “Blow it… at Madison’s Quinceañera!” is a live concert and a follow-up to their previous live album, “Ruin Jonny’s Bar Mitzvah.”
Slaughterhouse is a band that continues to impress me more and more every time I catch them. They had a killer early set at last month’s Punk in the Park that blew away fans. I credit them as one of the hardest working bands in the business right now, constantly playing shows left and right, most recently opening for the Bronx to kick off December. They just released a video for their latest single, “Sick and Tired,” which is an instant banger.
Kicking off each afternoon will be famed Los Angeles reggae band, The Aggrolites. Not only a respected band in their own right, they’ve also had previous gigs as supporting band for acts such as Prince Buster and Tim Armstrong (having recorded on the latter’s solo record, “A Poet’s Life”).

They kick off the new year as supporting band for Roy Ellis in January at La Santa. In addition to Shamrock Rebellion, both the Aggrolites and Slaughterhouse will be supporting Flogging Molly on their 2025 national tour.
Tickets for all three dates of Shamrock Rebellion are on sale now. Hopefully the luck of the Irish is on your side, and you pick up your tickets before they sell out!
