NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
January 28, 2025 by Jimmy Alvarez
No matter who you are, music has a profound place in our lives. Depending on your age, we all have our own opinions of the greatest eras for music. From the early days of big band, to Elvis, to Zeppelin, to disco, to new wave and Nirvana music has evolved beyond belief.
For many, it was the ‘80s that merged film and music. After all, it was the decade of decadence where video killed the radio star. In 2025, we still pay homage to one band that shifted the paradigm, Simple Minds. Turns out that in 2025, they remain “Alive and Kicking,” and ready to tour.

Simple Minds features one of the most dynamic voices you will ever hear, Jim Kerr and the guitar mastery of Charlie Burchill.
The truth about this band is they were stars before we got to know them here in the states. The Scottish band had already made it in the UK with their electro-pop-shoegaze and vocally haunting sound.

It wasn’t until John Huges featured them on the soundtrack of his 1985 mega-hit film, The Breakfast Club; that is when the world truly become familiar with their music. Everyone went absolutely bananas over “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”
Simple Minds became a worldwide phenomenon that we have never let go of. It’s not a cliché to say their music defined an era. Their catalog includes mega hits, “The Waterfront,” “Promised You a Miracle,” “Sanctify Yourself,” “Up on the Catwalk,” “All the Things She Said,” “Belfast Child,” and “Alive and Kicking.” These songs were the cradle of the ‘80s for anyone who had a new wave swagger in their step.
We saw them last at Cruel World, and now, Simple Minds is back, and they will be on a North American tour later this year. Joining them will be other ‘80s icons, Marc Almond and Soft Cell.
They are another juggernaut of the genre with super hits, “Tainted Love,” Memorabilia,” “Sex Dwarf,” “It’s a Mugs Game,” and don’t forget “Tears Run Rings.”
Adding even more color to the tour is another larger-than-life band, Modern English.
The tour will land in Southern California on May 22nd where they will play at Kia Forum, then they move on May 23rd to play Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms before calling the SoCal leg of the Tour at North Island Credit Union Amphitheater in Chula Vista on the 24th.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 31st at 10:00 a.m. (Local Time).
Do what you have to do to get these tickets, it is one of those shows that will live up to the hype.
