Punk’s Not Dead | 45 Years Tour 2025
January 30, 2025 by Kevin Gomez
As any fan of punk knows, there’s often a heated debate about what is “punk” and what politics or ethos or lifestyle one must abide by in order to be called punk. What some call punk, others call “sell-outs” or argue that you’re not “punk enough.” You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who would not universally agree that whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, The Exploited are most certainly punk.
The band has been playing for nearly five decades, first formed as a street punk band in Edinburgh, Scotland. Scotland is a place already known for breeding tough individuals who must endure harsh conditions, and The Exploited existed at a time when it was truly dangerous to be punk.
Lead singer Wattie Buchan has suffered numerous health conditions, including a heart attack on stage at 2014, and most recently collapsing onstage in December 2022. However, he’s proven to be as tough as they come and nothing seems to keep down the rugged 67-year-old front-man.
Far from ready to retire any time soon, the band announced they would be heading out on a world tour to celebrate the 45th anniversary of their debut album, “Punk’s Not Dead.” The seminal album not only left an indelible impact on the punk scene, but influenced bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Nirvana, NOFX, and Rancid. The album and the band were monumental to helping build the Oi! movement and have established a strong and loyal following ever since.

The tour will see them playing the Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
