Set to Take Over the Palladium
September 9, 2025 by Kevin Gomez
The Hives have never been known for their modesty. Often billed (by themselves) as the greatest rock band in the world and the last real rock ‘n’ roll band, the Swedes may come off as brash or braggadocious. And yet, if you’ve ever been fortunate enough to catch The Hives live show you know they are only stating facts.
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age was once asked on Jay Mohr’s podcast, “Mohr Stories” who was the hardest act to follow after years of playing festivals worldwide. Homme paused for about a second before immediately answering, “The Hives.”
From expert musicianship to endless energy, complete with theatrics and lead singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist crowd surfing, The Hives will level anything in their path when they play.

The band broke onto the American rock scene in 2000 with “Veni Vidi Vicious” that took the country by storm. Featuring two radio anthems that still get played nearly daily, “Hate to Say I Told You So” and “Main Offender.”
These two songs topped alternative radio charts and were featured on MTV and countless movies and TV shows.
For the mainstream, we can’t forget their collaboration with Timbaland and their mega-monster hit, “Throw It On Me.”
This band is nothing short of chameleons as they managed to stay popular a quarter century later releasing hits like, “Walk Idiot Walk,” and “Tick Tick Boom.”
These songs went viral before going viral was even a thing.
Their seventh studio album, “The Hives Forever Forever the Hives” was just released last month, featuring cover artwork of the and dressed up in crowns and robes.

The album is produced by long-time collaborator, Pelle Gunnerfeldt, but this time the boys also enlisted Mike D of the Beastie Boys. Homme himself is listed as a contributing advisor on the album.
The lead single “Enough Is Enough” was released in April, and much like the rest of the album delivers the same catchy in-your-face rock anthems that we’ve come to expect from The Hives.
The band is currently on a world tour, which kicked off in July in Australia, and will see them storm America before heading to Europe and ending in their homeland of Stockholm, Sweden.
California is grateful that the self-proclaimed kings of rock will be gracing the Palladium on September 25th.

The Hives are bringing along lo-fi, “egg punk” band, Snõõper. With their stage theatrics, including their giant green papier-mâché bug mascot, “mosh-quito” they should fit right in.
Check out one of the most energetic and exciting bands on the planet, tickets are available now.
