DEFINITELY MAYBE
NEW ALBUM & TOUR 2026?
October 19, 2025 by Traci Turner
The Cure have announced 2026 tour dates in Europe, which does not mean much for us… yet. They also quietly teased a new album, just a year after dropping the incredible “Songs of a Lost World.” Eagle-eyed fans noticed an update on the bio section of the band’s website: “In March 2025 the band went back into Rockfield Studios to record 13 more songs for a follow up album.”
Obviously a new album and some tour dates may lead to tour dates in North America. We hope the band will use the same fan ticketing system they used last time and perform their iconic three-hour shows.

Also of note in the updated bio… “In June Robert guested with Olivia Rodrigo on a couple of Cure songs during her Glastonbury headline show, before heading back into the studio to help re-edit and re-mix The Show Of A Lost World film…” If there are no 2026 tour dates here, a film would certainly help, but we are just going to manifest a tour.
Still led by the one and only Robert Smith on vocals and guitar, the band’s site lists “The Cure (2026)” as Simon Gallup (bass), Roger O’Donnell (keyboards and percussion), Jason Cooper (drums), and Reeves Gabrels (guitar). Again, using “2026” in there seems like a positive sign.

Previously, Smith mentioned a project album that was a companion to “Songs of a Lost World” that included “sadder, more melancholic material.”
It is not clear if the new album is in fact this companion and I am not sure it could be sadder than “Songs of a Lost World.” “Alone,” “And Nothing Is Forever,” and “Endsong” bring tears to my eyes. But, this is The Cure!
Of course, we love classic Cure too, whether it be radio friendly hits “Boys d=Don’t Cry,” “Just like Heaven,” “Lovesong,” “Friday I’m in Love,” “The Lovecats,” “Pictures of You,” “Close to Me,” or “Why Can’t I Be You?” But we also adore brilliant Cure classics “A Forest,” “In Between Days,” “Lullaby,” “Plainsong,” and “Fascination Street.”
Hopefully 2026 brings us many amazing things, and hopefully, new Cure is one of those!
