THANKSGIVING DAY MEALS
For SoCal Residents

Thanksgiving 2024 is here and the holidays are knocking on our door, even though it seems like our endless summer was just here. Now that the weather is appropriate for this time of the year, holiday concerts are happening, the traditional huddling around the TV to watch football is in full swing, and our Thanksgiving feast is ready to happen.
With the many festive events, we all have a sense of togetherness and that family time is great, but not everyone has that ability to sit down at a Thanksgiving dinner. That’s the thing about the holidays – sometimes it’s tough on adults, and if you have children, it’s even tougher on them.
But another wonderful thing about the holidays is we can see the best in us. Humans somehow manage to be the best versions of themselves, especially when it comes to helping others during the holidays. This year can be another example of how decent people can be; from coast-to-coast, companies, agencies, restaurants, and volunteers will all pitch in to provide free Thanksgiving meals.
Before we give you details on where to go this year, we need to acknowledge the contribution made over the last four decades by La Casa Garcia Family Restaurant. They have been instrumental in Free Thanksgiving Meals that have been part of the OC landscape. It was recently announced that due to health issues, the “We Give Thanks” Thanksgiving Day Free Meals at Honda Center is no more. They will pass the torch to others to help the communities they live in going forward. It goes without mention, the Garcia family is owed a debt of gratitude we can never repay. So, we will just say “THANK YOU” for all they have done.
That said, here are just a few of the places in Southern California where you can get a free meal, or volunteer to help your fellow brothers and sisters who could use a hand this Thanksgiving. Check their websites!

OPERATION WARM WISHES 17th ANNUAL UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SPECTACULAR – Location: Peppertree Park, Tustin. Event Time: November 28 (11 a.m. – 3 p.m., set up begins at 6 a.m.) – This wonderfully community centered event seeks to serve all those in the community who are in need, welcoming people experiencing homelessness, veterans, troubled youth, struggling families, and senior citizens needing somewhere to go this holiday. To bring a real sense of joy to all in attendance, the event not only offers meals and needed resources, but a fun atmosphere complete with live entertainment, games, and family-friendly activities.

HUNTINGTON BEACH TUMBLEWEEDS BAR N GRILL – Event Time: November 28 (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.): FREE Thanksgiving meal to any and all, and some great company.
