Coming to House of Blues Anaheim
March 12th, 2025 by Jimmy Alvarez
If you thought you knew music, until you know George you really don’t know the true groove armada.
Way back what seems a lifetime ago, I remember going to high school dances. I think it was one of the greatest times in music. Bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Kiss and AC/DC were just blasting off. Then there was another era-defining genre led by Donna Summer along with KC and the Sunshine Band.
What may have gotten lost in the annals of time and big screen time is the impact bands like Kool & The Gang, Con Funk Shun, Zapp then there was the mother of all that is cool, Earth, Wind & Fire.

In the midst of all these great names is one artist and band that defined a lifestyle. That is, Parliament-Funkadelic featuring George Clinton.

This band was a movement that to this day inspires people of all races and ages. The band has even received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys.

We all know Mr. Clinton for his epic old school throw down, “Atomic Dog.” But there is more to the name and the genre.
I was just a teen in 1976, but I remember Billboard Magazine featured George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic on the R&B Chart. That recognition solidified the social standing of the band’s seminal album, Funkentelechy Vs. the Plaebo Syndrome,
It was Parliaments first number one hit song, “Flashlight.” Every0ne lost their minds over this song.
Not only was it number one on Billboard, but it was also being requested at radio stations and every night club nationwide.

Keep in mind, this was when there was no internet, no streaming platform of Tik Tok, radio was King and George Clinton ruled over Funkland.
No matter where Parliament-Funkadelic plays, it instantly transports you back in time and you are at the House that Funk built! Wherever you go to see these icons, you’ll hear timeless classics, “One Nation Under a Groove,” “Loopzilla,” “If Anyone Gets Funked Up (It’s Gonna Be You),” “I’ll Bet You,” “Aqua Boogie,” and “Tear the Roof off the Sucker (Give Up the Funk),”
This tour was originally launched to be a farewell tour, then COVID happened. Once touring resumed the outpouring of love, devotion and impressive sold out shows everywhere has been nothing short of unreal.
The tour lands in Orange County on April 30th at the House of Blues Anaheim. Be sure to grab your tickets and get your funk on by seeing the Mothership when it arrives.
If you want to see where Bootsy Collins’ origin story began, I can only suggest you see this band while you still can. Tickets are on sale now
