The First Four Years Tour
Comes to SoCal
December 15, 2024 by Kim Scirotto
Punks all over SoCal have the opportunity to rock out with the legendary punk band Black Flag at The Observatory Santa Ana and the world famous Whisky a Go Go!
The band will perform four early January SoCal shows, and I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year.

Black Flag recently began the second leg of their tour, The First Four Years, which consists of 42 dates and will end on January 28th.
This tour encompasses the compilation album of the same name with music they released before Henry Rollins became the lead singer. Lucky fans will hear their favorite tracks from “Jealous Again,” “Nervous Breakdown,” “TV Party, Rose Above,” “Six Pack,” and their single, “Louie Louie,” featuring the powerful vocals of Mike Vallely.
Naturally, it would not be a Black Flag concert without guitarist Greg Ginn, who is both a founding member and the longest-standing member in the band.
Ginn has been the driving force behind Black Flag’s sound and vision since 1976, and he will be joined by Matt Baxter on bass and Charles Wiley on drums – both of whom help keep the legacy of Black Flag’s anarchic style alive through each show.
For the locals there are few chances to catch this iconic band. On New Year’s Day you can catch them in Hermosa at St. Rocke; then on the 2nd they will head down to San Diego to entertain us at the House of Blues San Diego. For The OC, they will play The Observatory in Santa Ana on January 3rd.
Hardcore punks can expect a night of high energy, confronting lyrics, and the band’s signature raw, aggressive sound. With a sense of nostalgia already coursing through everyone’s veins, the Whisky a Go Go is the ideal place to see these legends perform. The landmark has such a prominent place in the rise of punk rock and remains an iconic venue for live shows.
