Long Beach Bowl Landing at
QUEEN MARY
January 16, 2025 by Traci Turner
Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson gave his State of the City address this week, and announced the Queen Mary amphitheater will open this fall as part of a “world-class entertainment hub.”
Dubbed Long Beach Bowl, the venue will house approximately 12,000 seats and includes a skyline view of Long Beach and the Queen Mary. The new venue will be built in the Queen Mary overflow parking lot and is planned to open this fall.
During Richardson’s address – his third State of the City – renderings of the planned project were displayed for the first time. He declared the city “worthy of an international audience” and intends to “transform the city into an entertainment juggernaut with revitalized music venues that can draw world-class acts year-round.”

Long Beach Bowl will be managed by ASM Global, the company that operates the city’s convention center. Richardson stated the city is negotiating with ASM in regards to the Long Beach Arena, in hopes of improving the 63-year-old venue. With the 2028 Olympics on the horizon, the city’s tourism is expected to play a major role.
“At every pivotal moment in our city’s 127-year history, at every major historical juncture, Long Beach leaned into the arts and entertainment and culture to push our city forward, to further define our identity, our culture and our global impact,” Richardson said.

Local rapper Warren G was a special guest on stage and told the crowd, “Long Beach is a breeding ground for talent and creative. There’s something in the water y’all, I don’t know what it is.”
We look forward to another incredible new venue in SoCal!
