Bring Special Show to OC
February 20th, 2025 by Traci Turner
The Psychedelic Furs have spent the past few years touring with bands we love. In 2023, it was Squeeze; last year, The Jesus and Mary Chain.
For 2025, The Furs are doing again with two more beloved bands: The Church and The Mission UK. The two ‘80s/’90s alt rockers will assist on various dates of the summer tour that launches June 29th in Ohio, but OC gets all three bands in one night. Costa Mesa’s Pacific Amphitheatre will host the trifecta on July 20th.

The Psychedelic Furs are sure to bring the classics we love – “Pretty in Pink,” “Love My Way,” “Heaven,” “The Ghost in You,” and “Heartbreak Beat.”
Having seen them recently, Richard Butler sounds incredible, Tim Butler continues to rock the bass, Rich Good is a phenom on guitar, Amanda Kramer is a badass on keys, and Zachary Alford keeps it all together on the drums.
The Furs will likely share some “newish” material as well since they released “Made of Rain” in 2020, their first full-length album since 1991’s “World Outside.”

We fell in love with The Church thanks to “Under the Milky Way,” “Metropolis,” and “Reptile.” Front-man Steve Kilbey is a master storyteller – in addition to his musical mastery, of course – and he is joined by some incredibly talented folks: Ian Haug (guitar), Ashley Naylor (guitar), Jeffrey Cain (guitar/keys), and Nicholas Meredith (drums).
The Australian band has done a joint tour with the Butler brothers before, in 2015, so they must get a long fairly well!
This date will be the only SoCal appearance of The Church, although we have had them stop by fairly recently, thankfully. They last toured in support of their concept album, “The Hypnogogue.”
The Mission UK, fronted by guitarist Wayne Hussey, has been an elusive capture, so you do not want to miss out while they are in SoCal. With founding members Craig Adams (bass) and Simon Hinkler (guitar, keyboards) joined by Alex Baum on drums, they will be ready to give fans the classics: “Wasteland,” “Deliverance,” “Severina,” “Ballroom Blitz,” and “Stay With Me.”
The Mission UK also have some shows of their own, including July 18th in Pioneertown at Pappy & Harriet’s, July 21st in San Diego at Music Box, and July 22nd in Los Angeles at Lodge Room.
If you can’t get to the OC show, you can see Furs and Rooney July 23rd at Ventura Theater, or alone July 25th in Rancho Mirage at Agua Caliente Casino.
Three iconic bands in one night! Definitely one of those “worth the price of admission” and more events!
